The story follows '''[[Asep Muhammad Ridwan]]''', a former street brawler and ex-convict from Bandung, Indonesia, who is suddenly transmigrated to the fantasy Kingdom of Ardenia. Unlike traditional "Otherworlder" heroes summoned by the Church, Asep receives no divine powers, no holy authority, and zero plot armor. What he does possess is a complete lack of native Lumite in his blood, making him an anomaly, and a desperate craving for a good cigarette.

Smoke of Revolution is the current ongoing storyline set within the Wardokverse's A Place Beyond the Light series. The story follows the chaotic, brutal, and rapidly industrializing conflict within the Kingdom of Ardenia.

After a devastating civil war twelve years prior, Ardenia now faces threats from all sides: the fanatic Eclipse Cult spreading corruption from the Roake mines, and a full-scale invasion by the Albion Empire seeking to claim the continent's rich Lumite resources. Amidst this turmoil, an otherworlder named Asep—armed with modern engineering knowledge, zero magical affinity, and a desperate craving for tobacco—joins the Castalia Mercenary Company. Together with rogue alchemists, runaway nobles, and fractured beastkin tribes, they must drag a medieval world kicking and screaming into the industrial age to survive the encroaching darkness.
